Saying what I want, but a duty to comply?

    Webinar - Wednesday 22 April 2026 - 5 PM - 6 PM

The Industrial Relations Society of Victoria proudly announces its first webinar for 2026, as part of a year-long program of professional development activities.

Free for IRSV members our first webinar is on the subject of free speech in workplaces.

Saying what I want, but a duty to comply? will examine the boundaries around political expression at work. Last year the Federal Court found the ABC unlawfully terminated Antoinette Lattouf for reasons including her political opinion and failing to follow required procedures. While employees will want to contribute to society's great debates, employers may see things differently.

Eminent practitioners Josh Bornstein and Lindy Richardson will give their perspectives of the subject.

Josh Bornstein is an award winning lawyer and National Practice Leader of Maurice Blackburn’s Employment and Industrial Relations Group and also the author of the recently published book “Working for the Brand: how corporations are destroying free speech”.

Lindy Richardson is a Partner and Practice Group Head, Employment, Safety & People at Maddocks.

The webinar will be moderated by Nicholas Wilson (workplace relations consultant and former FWC Commissioner).

Be sure to join us on Wednesday 22 April 2026, between 5 PM and 6 PMThe seminar will be held online via Zoom (link to be provided).

The seminar is free for IRSV Members (join or renew today: www.irsv.asn.au/join).
