2014 Student Essay Writing Competition


The Industrial Relations Society of Victoria invites all Victorian undergraduate and postgraduate students to submit an essay to the annual Industrial Relations Society of Victoria Student Essay Writing Competition. The winning entries at undergraduate and postgraduate level will each receive a cash prize of $500. The winners will also receive a free annual student membership of the IRSV for 2014-2015 year.


This competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate university students with a passion for, or interest in, industrial relations and who have been enrolled in universities or TAFE or the equivalent in the State of Victoria at any time in the current academic year.

Entrants should submit a paper of between 2,500 and 3,500 words on a contemporary issue in Australian industrial relations, broadly defined


All entries must be submitted electronically to irsv@alphalink.com.au by the close of business on Friday 28 November 2014, and must be accompanied by the registration form. Entries received without the declaration below will not be accepted.

Entries will be judged by an experienced panel of Industrial Relations practitioners and academics.

Winning entrants will be notified by phone and email. The decision of the judging panel will be final.
