Susan Halliday is our guest speaker who will be sharing her views on 'thrive or survive?' Appointed the first Chairperson of the State’s most recently established statutory body – the Victorian Institute of Teaching, Susan also runs her own executive consulting and workplace investigation firm. Many of you will be familiar with Susan as Australia’s former Sex Discrimination Commissioner (1998 – 2001). Susan also served simultaneously as the Disability Commissioner. Prior to these roles Susan was an Assistant Director with the Business Council of Australia, an Assistant Director with the Council for Equal Opportunity In Employment, she spent five years with BHP and several with ASIO. Originally a teacher, Susan also worked regularly for 20 years in universities and TAFEs. A board member of the State Library of Victoria and Australians Against Child Abuse, Susan is well known for speaking out on controversial issues affecting everyday Australian.
With her wealth of experience, Susan is guaranteed to provide insight into the working life of women in industrial relations.
